NATO walked back Secretary-General Mark Rutte's statement suggesting 4 missing U.S soldiers had died, clarifying he was referencing "emerging news reports" and not confirming their fate.
The soldiers, all from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, went missing during a training exercise at the General Silvestras Žukauskas ground in PabradÄ, near the Belarus border.
Their Hercules armored vehicle was later found submerged in water, with joint U.S and Lithuanian recovery efforts ongoing.
