🚨🇺🇸 SEC RUBIO PRESSES TURKEY OVER ARRESTS AND PROTESTS

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, raising concerns about recent arrests and crackdowns on protests in Turkey.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said Rubio highlighted progress in U.S.-Turkey trade but called for stronger economic ties going forward.

At the same time, he pushed Ankara on human rights issues and political freedom.

Washington continues balancing cooperation with Turkey against growing concerns over domestic repression.

Rubio’s message was clear — trade and security don’t give Turkey a pass on democratic norms.
