Italy just hit a new low — literally. Only 370,000 babies were born in 2024, the fewest since 1861.
That’s 10,000 fewer diapers and 10,000 more reasons for schools to shut down and baby brands to panic.
Meanwhile, nearly 200,000 Italians packed their bags and left, mostly young, educated workers chasing jobs abroad.
With only 1.18 kids per woman, Italy’s future is looking more bingo hall than playground.
1 in 4 Italians is now over 65 — and with 23,500 over the age of 100, the country’s aging faster than its espresso cools.
