๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝU.S. WARNS MEXICO: LET OUR FLIES FLY OR FACE A CATTLE BAN

The U.S. uses planes to drop sterile flies over Mexico to stop New World Screwworms โ€” a nasty pest whose larvae eat living animals from the inside out.

Female screwworm flies only mate once, so flooding the area with sterile males tricks them into dead-end reproduction, wiping out the pest without chemicals.

But Mexico is blocking flights, cutting flying days, and even taxing the supplies โ€” slowing down the mission while the outbreak spreads.

Ag Secretary Rollins says if Mexico doesnโ€™t fully allow flights by April 30, the U.S. will ban Mexican cattle imports to protect its livestock and food supply.

Every day of delay gives screwworms more chances to reach U.S. soil โ€” and thatโ€™s a disaster waiting to hatch.
