Thanks to the U.K.'s National Health System handing out infected blood in the '70s to '90s, thousands got HIV or hep C—and 3,000+ have already died.
The rest? Still waiting for justice… and now maybe some awkward GP questions.
Starting now, anyone 29+ registering with a new doctor will be asked if they ever had a transfusion.
If yes, they get a hepatitis C test—because it’s the kind of thing you really want to catch before it eats your liver.
The government promised £11.8 billion in compensation. But out of 140,000 eligible people, just 77 have been paid so far.
Most won’t see a penny until 2027—or 2029 if you're a grieving family. And yes, people are literally dying while waiting.
