After Germany's intel agency labeled the AfD an extremist group, Chancellor Merz slammed the push to ban it as “smacking of eliminating political rivals.”
The firestarter? Ex-Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who dropped a classified, 1,100-page report branding AfD extremists just before leaving office - no expert review, no intel chief signature, and yes, she once wrote for Antifa Magazine.
Merz is “very skeptical,” warning the government shouldn’t target 10 million voters with bans based on “public statements and suspicion.”
