Albania’s Cabinet shut down TikTok for 12 months, blaming the app for fueling violence and bullying among children after a teen’s fatal stabbing tied to a TikTok spat last November.
PM Edi Rama said talks with TikTok are “positive,” with the company set to propose child safety fixes soon.
Education Minister Ogerta Manastirliu cited 65,000 parents supporting the ban after 1,300 meetings, while kids are reportedly bringing knives to school inspired by TikTok.
The app denies links to the killing, claiming it occurred on another platform.
The opposition slams the move as “intolerance” and plans a protest soon.
