Minot Mayor Tom Ross resigned Wednesday after sending a lunch-break masturbation video to City Attorney Stefanie Stalheim, claiming it was a mistake meant for his girlfriend.
Ross said he “immediately tried to correct it” and accepted responsibility.
Stalheim had just spoken with Ross about a police officer’s suicide when the video arrived.
Ross asked her to delete it and keep it quiet, later claiming both women’s names start with ‘C.’
Stalheim filed a harassment complaint, prompting an investigation that found Ross created a hostile work environment.
Minot residents now have 15 days to petition for a special election.
