BLACK HOLES CAUGHT HAVING A STAR-SIZED SNACK
Black holes are usually quiet. Then a star drifts too close and things get dramatic.
Scientists just spotted three supermassive black holes tearing apart massive stars.
Each star was 3 to 10 times heavier than our Sun.
The explosions were brighter than 100 supernovae and lasted months.
These events are now called extreme nuclear transients, which is science’s way of saying “this was intense.”
One of the events, nicknamed Barbie, was discovered in 2020.
The other 2 were found in earlier years by European space telescopes.
All 3 lit up in ultraviolet and X-rays, slowly brightened for over 100 days, and took another 150 to start fading.
NASA’s Swift Observatory confirmed the black holes were the cause. Other telescopes helped track the dust and radiation left behind.
These rare events expose black holes that usually stay hidden.
Only about 10% of them are active, so catching one mid-meal is rare and valuable.
The Roman Space Telescope, launching around 2026, will look for more of these in deep space.
Thanks to a few unlucky stars, we now know what to watch for when black holes lose their patience.

🇺🇸U.S. RESEARCHERS WORK ON SMALLER, CHEAPER ACCELERATORS TO REDUCE NUCLEAR WASTE
Researchers at Argonne and Fermilab have secured $3.2 million in federal funding to build a new kind of particle accelerator that could help turn dangerous nuclear waste into much safer material.
This project uses new materials that work better at extremely cold temperatures, which means they need less expensive equipment to keep them cool.
The team hopes to make these accelerators much smaller and cheaper than today’s giant machines, which could open the door to finally solving the problem of America’s 90,000 metric tons of nuclear waste.

IAEA’s plan was never really to resolve the issue—they created the issue themselves and are using it as a means to expand their influence and gain full control over Iran.
During my time at the Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council, we entered into an agreement with the IAEA. We agreed to respond to all of their questions.
The understanding was that once we answered, they would close the case. But that didn’t happen.
Despite addressing the 5 main questions and getting 5 signatures from the late Mr. ElBaradei (ex-head of IAEA) the case still remained open and was sent to the UN Security Council.
Later, under Mr. Amano, after extensive discussions, and full cooperation, inspectors visited all requested sites.
Amano then said: “We accept everything before 2003 is clean, and everything after 2009 is under full monitoring and control—we’re satisfied there too… But between 2003-2009, we are still not convinced.”
So how am I, as the head of the Atomic Energy Organization or nuclear negotiator, supposed to convince him further (fr lol) ?
The whole point is to keep Iran labeled as an exceptional case, as a threat to global peace and security, especially regarding its nuclear activities, and to maintain Iran in the position of the accused.
The Saadabad agreement was a strategic mistake.
We accepted, exceptionally, to enter talks separate from all other IAEA member states—just with the E3 who, like us, only have 1 vote in the IAEA.
In reality, we should have been dealing directly with the IAEA, not those 3 EU countries.”

Russia’s Ministry of Defense says Ukraine launched a drone blitz on airbases across 5 regions: Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur.
Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur?
Russian defenses say they swatted every drone out of the sky.
Murmansk and Irkutsk?
Not so lucky.
Several of Russia’s big bombers caught fire but no casualties reported.
The Ministry insists no pilots or civilians were hurt and some attackers were detained.
They also conveniently forgot to mention rumors of serious damage to their prized Tu-95MS and Tu-22M bombers which are basically flying fortresses built for nuclear payloads.
