Why is Israel attempting to occupy Daraa?
The main reason is to establish military bases in Daraa and possibly control it. Israel will not stop at the village of Koya but will try to control larger parts of Daraa.
The reason behind this is to protect the “Jordanian” border, as Jordan is a weak entity but remains the primary protector of Israel’s eastern borders. In the future, if a strong Syrian state is built, it is not unlikely that it may attempt to reclaim Jordan, which was annexed from Syria by Britain.
Israel acts as a conduit for Western will, instead of direct Western intervention, the western advanced military base carries out the tasks.
The goal in Daraa is to protect the Jordanian regime, which it protects Israel’s eastern borders, and obviously, it comes with the bonus of occupying more land.
