Let’s not kid ourselves - slavery didn’t “begin” with the transatlantic trade.

It’s been baked into human civilization since we figured out how to stack bricks.

Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Africa - you name the empire, and you’ll find enslaved people doing the dirty work while elites took the credit.

Then Europe industrialized the horror: 12 million Africans chained, shipped, and sold to power sugar, cotton, and cash. That wasn’t a glitch in the system - it was the system.

Resistance happened at every step. Revolts, runaways, revolutions. But abolition didn’t end it. It just changed the branding.

Today it’s human trafficking, forced labor, and debt traps - same exploitation, shinier packaging.

Slavery isn’t some dark chapter - it’s a recurring theme.
