šŸ‡ØšŸ‡® IVORY COAST BOOTS OPPOSITION LEADER FROM ELECTION—BUT HE’S NOT GOING QUIETLY

Ivory Coast just told opposition leader Tidjane Thiam he’s out of the presidential race—because he used to have French citizenship.

Officials dug up a 64-year-old law to boot him from the ballot. Classic legal drama before elections.

Thiam?

Not impressed: the ex-Credit Suisse boss says the government’s playing scared, using loopholes to block him from running.

His party’s not even bothering to pick a backup—they’re betting on turning up the heat till someone blinks.

Thiam:

"I'm a business person. I'm not a warrior.

I've been asking for reconciliation and peace — it's only met with aggression, vitriol, toxicity.

But I intend to stick to the course and try to take the country in a different direction."

With the current president Ouattara still undecided on running again, Thiam was the biggest threat.
