Ahmed Ramadan Mohamad Ebid, an Egyptian man living illegally in the UK, just got hit with a 25-year prison sentence for helping smuggle thousands of migrants across the Mediterranean.
He worked with crime gangs to cram people into risky boats — charging each one about £3,200 — making over £12 million in the process.
Investigators found boat pics, money transfers, and creepy voice recordings where Ebid warned migrants they'd be thrown overboard if caught with phones.
This is the first time someone in the UK has been jailed for organizing these kinds of deadly crossings — and authorities say he wasn’t some sidekick. He was running the show.
