After October 7 & due to Israeli regional movements, our assessment was that the situation for Syrian government would become difficult. Therefore, we explicitly conveyed these views to Syria’s President in September 2024.

Araqchi—Iran’s FM—indirectly hinting at the Turkish role in Syria, said:

“Tehran’s red line are political borders & sovereignty of regional countries. Iran proved this policy during when Turkey [Erdogan] faced difficulties on July 15, 2016 & Iran was the first country to stand against the coup [where Erdogan fled to Iran and Iran protected him].
