BELFAST HARD LANDING: NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSE SHUTS AIRPORT

An Aer Lingus regional flight's nose wheel collapsed during a hard landing in stormy conditions at Belfast City Airport.

The positioning flight, carrying only four crew members, prompted emergency responses and closed the runway for the day.

An Aer Lingus regional flight had its nose wheel collapse during a landing at Belfast City Airport, forcing the runway to close for the remainder of the day.

The flight, operated by Emerald Airlines, was a "positioning flight" with no passengers onboard, only four crew members.

The hard landing was attributed to severe weather conditions, with winds reaching up to 70 mph, which have been disrupting travel across the UK.

Several flights were redirected to Belfast International Airport, now nearing capacity.
