Putin and Aliyev discussed the crash of the Azerbaijani Airlines plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan.
Putin did not admit that Russian air defense hit the plane.
He mentioned though that the plane attempted to land in Grozny while Russian air defenses repelled Ukrainian drone attacks on Grozny, Mozdok, and Vladikavkaz.
Russia’s Investigative Committee launched a probe under air traffic safety laws, with Azerbaijani prosecutors joining the investigation in Grozny.
Russian, Azerbaijani, and Kazakh officials are cooperating at the crash site to determine the cause.
