Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s economic powerhouse, finally joined BRICS after getting the green light in 2023.
Apparently, it needed a new government before RSVP’ing to the bloc.
BRICS, started by Brazil, Russia, India, and China in 2009 (South Africa came late to the party), now boasts new members like Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
With Indonesia on board, the group’s table just got a lot more crowded—and a lot more influential.
Turkey, Malaysia, and Azerbaijan are still waiting in line.
