Pope Francis, 88, remains in Rome’s Gemelli hospital after tests found a “polymicrobial infection” in his respiratory tract, meaning multiple types of germs are causing complications.
Doctors have changed his treatment, and the Vatican says his condition is “complex” but “stable.”
He will stay in the hospital “as long as necessary.”
The pope has been sick for over a week and was too unwell to lead yesterdays mass.
His planned visit to Rome’s Cinecittà film studios was also canceled.
Despite his illness, Francis has been calling a Catholic parish in Gaza and thanked followers for their prayers.
