The U.S. has sanctioned six Chinese and Hong Kong officials for human rights violations, accusing them of targeting 19 democracy advocates.
Among those named: Hong Kong Police Commissioner Raymond Siu, Secretary for Justice Paul Lam, and former intel official Dong Jingwei.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio:
"Beijing broke its promises… depriving Hong Kongers of freedoms and targeting activists on U.S. soil."
