πͺπͺ ESTONIA FORMALLY REVOKES VOTING RIGHTS FOR THIRD-COUNTRY NATIONALS
Estonian lawmakers voted on March 26 to ban the country's large Russian minority and other non-EU residents from voting in local elections.
The amendment was proposed in response to security concerns over the war in Ukraine and includes nearly 80,000 Russians who live in Estonia and hold residence permits.
This means that starting from the next local elections, only Estonian and EU citizens will be eligible to vote.
The vote passed with overwhelming support: 93 in favor, 7 against.
