🚨🇺🇸BREAKING: TORNADO WARNING—SOUTHEAST MISSOURI AND SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNDER THREAT
A tornado warning has been issued until 7:30 PM CDT, Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
This is a life-threatening situation. Areas impacted include Cape Girardeau, Dutchtown, Chaffee, Gordonville, and Scott City in Missouri, and Cobden, Anna, Ware, Balcom, and Dongola in Illinois.
The storm system includes a damaging tornado and may produce quarter-sized hail.
An estimated 71,592 people, 33 schools, and 5 hospitals are within the warning area.
Officials urge residents to seek shelter immediately in a basement or windowless interior room.
The National Weather Service warns this tornado is capable of significant damage.
