As Brazil weighs retaliation for Trump’s new tariffs, former President Jair Bolsonaro warned against escalating tensions:

“Doubling down and escalating the crisis with our second largest trading partner is not a wise response”

Bolsonaro also added that Trump is simply “protecting his country from this socialist virus.”

He urged Brazil’s government to lower tariffs instead of matching U.S. rates.
