🇺🇸🇵🇭 U.S. APPROVES 20 F-16 JETS FOR PHILIPPINES TO COUNTER CHINA
The U.S. has greenlit the sale of 20 F-16 fighter jets to the Philippines, a $5.58 billion deal to strengthen a key ally in the Indo-Pacific amid tensions with China.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the sale boosts the Philippines’ air force, currently limited to 12 South Korean FA-50 jets, with advanced F-16 Block 70/72 models—16 single-seat and four dual-seat for training.
This follows Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s visit, where he pledged to counter China’s aggression in the region.
China’s Foreign Ministry warned the deal shouldn’t harm third-party interests or regional peace.
Defense Secretary Hegseth:
“We aim to reestablish deterrence to counter China’s aggression.”
