Telegram has updated its terms of service to share the phone numbers and IP addresses of users violating its rules with authorities, founder Pavel Durov announced.

Previously, data was only disclosed if users were suspected of terrorism.

The new policy applies to any rule violator, with Telegram conducting legal analysis before releasing data.

This move follows Telegram’s efforts to block illegal activity on the platform and comes as Durov faces an investigation in France for various offenses, including facilitating illegal content.
