Rescue efforts are ongoing across western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene’s unprecedented flooding and landslides.
FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell called the flooding "historic" and said teams have been deployed for search and rescue.
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper confirmed 11 deaths, warning the toll could rise as isolated areas are reached. Over 50 search teams are working to rescue stranded people.
The Army Corps of Engineers and Starlink satellites are assisting with water and communication issues.
