Investigators found a Quran open to a passage discussing martyrdom at the home of the attacker involved in the New Orleans tragedy.
“They fight in His cause, and slay and are slain; a promise binding” – Quran 9:111
Jabbar, a 42-year-old Army veteran, carried out the attack on New Year’s Eve, resulting in 15 fatalities.
He was killed in a shootout with police following the incident.
