Israeli airstrikes killed 68 Palestinians across Gaza, including police chief Mahmoud Salah and his deputy, Hussam Shahwan, in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone.

Israel confirmed targeting Shahwan, citing his leadership role in Hamas’ southern Gaza security forces.

The attack also killed 9 displaced civilians in the same area.

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini condemned the lack of safe zones in Gaza, urging a ceasefire to prevent further tragedy.
