He was allegedly beaten, starved, and psychologically tortured after being deported to El Salvador’s CECOT prison in March, according to a newly filed court complaint.
Upon arrival, the suit claims Abrego Garcia was chained, assaulted, and forced to kneel for 9 hours, later confined in windowless, overcrowded cells with no mattresses or sanitation.
He lost 31 pounds in 2 weeks and was later transferred to Santa Ana prison, where he was “frequently hidden from visitors.”
His attorneys are now urging a federal judge to block any further deportation and return him to Maryland as he awaits trial in Tennessee.
